I’ve had an epiphany on when to release things inspired by this answer on Quora:

Yes, there are costs to releasing something that is completely unpolished. If you are Larry Page, there are many many reasons why you shouldn’t release something. But you’re probably not Larry Page and your “reputation” doesn’t exist.
