Nio (Psi Release)
.........................................................
∞
I’ve recently been working on
notify.io and a bunch of things related to it.
Notify.io is a global notification system. What does that mean? For a user, it means that instead of having their inbox flooded by notification emails, they will instead get notifications
separate from email anywhere they want. Nio is a little Mac app that runs in your menu bar and gets notifications through notify.io. The process to get notifications working is not as simplified as we’d like it to be
but it’s getting there —
- Download Nio
- Login into notify.io with your Google Account
- Type your notify.io userhash and API key into Nio
- You have Nio hooked up to notify.io. Now, just subscribe to any of the supported sites (right now, just feeds and Facebook; see list under Participating sites). Facebook works really well.
Try it and let me know how it goes. A couple of people have told me that it hangs for them (and it occasionally does for me too). The next release will hopefully fix that. Code’s on Github. Help out if you’re a Cocoa hacker.
